Writers Reading - Elise Hooper
Sunday, July 15
Elise Hooper will read from her latest work, "The Other Alcott" the story of May Alcott, younger sister to the
famous author of "Little Women," Louisa May Alcott.
Eclipsed by her sister's literary triumph in 1868, May Alcott, the youngest of the Alcott sisters, sets out to
pursue her own career as a painter. May's quest for her own identity and success takes her from Boston to
Rome, London, and Paris and eventually puts her on a collision course with her famous older sister, Louisa.
2018 marks the 150th anniversary of the publication of "Little Women."
Although a New Englander by birth (and at heart), Elise Hooper lives with her husband and two young
daughters in Seattle, where she teaches history and literature.
